CSTDC is offering an innovative bridging course for personal care workers who are experienced or partly trained in the Community Services industries.
- This training program is ideal for workers who are experienced and not yet qualified.
- This training program is also ideal for people who have previously undertaken some accredited training in Community Services.
- The design of this program suits people who can make a commitment to attending one session per week for approximately 15-16 weeks study to achieve a qualification.
- This training uses a workplace related, problem based learning approach.
What is Our Approach
CSTDC is aware there are a large number of existing and part-time employed, personal care workers, who would benefit from gaining increased confidence and competence, through a structured intensive training program.

Course Information, Enrolment, RPL, Credit Transfer for previous training, individualised training plans, seek employers support, funding/fees. |
| Stage 2 Workplace Assessment |
Introduction to Methodology, mentors/ trainers and materials. Assessor site visit to jointly assess basic competencies with workplace supervisors. Briefing of employers regarding training program. |
| Stage 3 Developmental Learning |
A series of structured seminar workshops (weekly), topics including: documentation, industry standards, delivery of services, client needs, ethics and duty of care. Undertake workplace assessment activities. |
| Stage 4 Workplace Project |
Identify client / resident as subject for workplace project, case study. Implementation of an action plan toward improving the quality of life of client/ resident. Weekly seminar groups, mentor support and supervision of workplace learning project. Submit documentation and evaluations of project for assessment. |
General Information
- Training is fully accredited with a Registered Training Organisation and delivered by experienced Trainers.
- The course is suitable for people who are, or have worked in the Aged Care, Disability Work, Home and Community Care or Mental Health sectors.
- Is designed for people who have undertaken previous pre-vocational type training in Community Services.
- Ideal intensive and practical training course which leads to an industry benchmark qualification.
- The applied methodology used in training is most suitable for hands-on learners.
- Through trainer’s consultation with the employers and supervisors, workers can customise their own training plans and electives.

Workplace Learning Projects
- Designed to assist workers to integrate the concepts and learning gained from off-the-job training
- Participants are required to apply a case study project related to a client/resident
