The course ‘Follow safe manual handling practices’ (HLTHSE204C) is a course for personal care workers to carry out their work in a safe manner within the health care environment. This course can be undertaken by anyone and is a great opportunity for people wanting to upgrade their skills and qualifications.

Through this course workers will gain an understanding and be trained to do the follow:

  • Understand & Learn the NO Lift Policies , OHS
  • Correct posture techniques
  • Confidence building
  • Positive technical skills
  • ADL,s (activities of daily living)
  • Correct transfer techniques
  • Having the ability to work with in the Aged Care, Disability & Home Community Care sectors
  • Wheelchair up and down a kerb
  • Wheelchair in and out of a car boot
  • Slippery sams/slide sheets
  • Slings (correct use & types)
  • Mechanical lifters / hoist
  • Bed manoeuvres
  • Stand transfers
  • Moving people safely
  • Correct posture
  • Client in and out of a car
  • Walking aids

Cost:

There are two options for payment:

1) One Day theory and practical  – $145 (GST and materials inc.)

2) Half Day refresher/update (4 Hours) – $65 (GST and materials inc.)
